On November 13, writer/director Roland Emmerich will unleash his version of the end of the world with 2012. The Sony/Columbia film is based upon the theory that the Mayan calendar ends on December 21, 2012, so the world does also… or something like that. There is apparently a lot more to the full storyline of this movie than meets the eye, so we’ll have to see a screener to get the full scoop.
2012 has a solid cast with John Cusack, Thandie Newton, Danny Glover and Woody Harrelson on the bill, and given Emmerich‘s production and directorial history with Independence Day, The Day After Tomorrow, Godzilla and 10,000 BC all under his belt, he knows a little something about action films!
Even though this trailer doesn’t give up much of the story, the two-plus minutes  of special effects are worth watching. A naval ship landing ON the White House…? Wow!
