Why on earth they let Tim Burton do kids’ stories is beyond me! His Alice in Wonderland adaptation, in digital 3D no less, is due out in March 2010, and even this trailer makes it look as sick and twisted as any nightmare I had after reading the book as a child.
Johnny Depp stars with menacing glory as the Mad Hatter, with Anne Hathaway as the White Queen, Crispin Glover as the Knave of Hearts and Austrailian actress Mia Wasikowska as curious Alice. Depp and Burton also reunite once again with actress Helena Bonham Carter - they’d previously worked together on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Corpse Bride and Sweeney Todd.
Tim Burton‘s eerie visuals mixed with screenwriter Linda Woolverton‘s Disney touch on Lewis Carroll‘s novel should be interesting. Keep in mind that Woolverton’s work includes scripts for ’90s animated films Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King and Mulan – so it can’t be too scary, right?
In short, I can’t wait to see this!! I think we’re in for a crazy ride at the theater next Spring!!
