While DJ Whoo Kid was in Peru the last couple of days, I got a little homesick from watching the Nate Robinson interview [click here to watch], and got to reminiscing on the Pacific NW. I thought about hi-jacking RadioPlanet.tv and adding a bunch of Seattle-esque content, and miraculously found out that Blue Scholars debuted their video for “HI-808” on MTV yesterday! It all began to make sense.
DJ Whoo Kid is now on his way to Hawaii, so it’s only fitting to feature “HI-808” (aka “808 Love”) since Blue Scholars filmed the video out there. Small world huh? These guys have been working for years now (shouts to the homie Geo!) so it’s awesome to see them finally getting real mainstream love!
I’m so glad I found this, because I was bored and was about to break out the classic Sir Mix-A-Lot videos, on some: “Well now, guess what? This is happening…” © Jack Black in Anchorman
Side note: if you didn’t know that “Don’t you wish your girlfriend was hot like me” chorus (Pussycat Dolls via Cee-Lo after it was stripped from Tori Alamaze) was originally a hook from Mix-A-Lot’s S.W.A.S.S., now you know!
