Bronson Trailer – Tom Hardy’s Violent Prisoner Film Hits the U.S.

It’s rare that a DVD movie makes its way to the big screen, but in the case of the cultish film Bronson, the movie came from a theatrical and DVD release in the UK to hit all the film festivals, and now has an official release date in the U.S. on October 9, 2009. Tom Hardy stars in this real-life tale of a young man who goes to prison after a botched robbery, and ends up becoming one of the most notorious (and still living) prisoners in Britain’s history.

Tom Hardy may be best known to U.S. audiences as Handsome Bob in RocknRolla, although he’s also appeared in films like Marie Antoinette (with Kirsten Dunst), Black Hawk Down (with Hugh Dancy) and Star Trek: Nemesis. Fellow RocknRolla co-star Matt King also co-stars in Bronson, while the rest of the cast is made up mostly of newcomers.

This is a low budget movie getting stellar reviews from critics and protests from British prison guards… the trailer is gritty and interesting, so I’m putting this in the “must see” category for Fall!

Here is more on the movie from the Bronson website – BronsonTheMovie.com:

In 1974, a hot-headed 19 year old named Michael Peterson decided he wanted to make a name for himself and so, with a homemade sawn-off shotgun and a head full of dreams he attempted to rob a post office. Swiftly apprehended and originally sentenced to 7 years in jail, Peterson has subsequently been behind bars for 34 years, 30 of which have been spent in solitary confinement. During that time, Michael Petersen, the boy, faded away and ‘Charles Bronson, his superstar alter ego, took center stage. Inside the mind of Bronson – a scathing indictment of celebrity culture.
