After critical acclaim for the Thai martial arts movie Ong Bak in 2003, Tony Jaa is back with the prequel Ong Bak 2. The film was released on DVD in parts of Asia, Europe and South America since December 2008, and will hit the U.S. market formally on October 23, 2009. I’m still not 100% sure if it will be in some theaters too, but I’m sure you’ll find it if you’re a fan of ass kicking.
A version of the movie, rumored to be a bootleg, got snapped up by American fans earlier this year, however it appears that they are going for an official release this time around.
Stuntman-turned-actor Tony Jaa actually co-directs Ong Bak 2, and judging from the trailer here, he’s got a few more exciting moves up his sleeve. If flipping off of an elephant’s head and mud wrestling a crocodile isn’t enough, there’s plenty more fighting to make your day!
