This is the trailer for the indie film White on Rice, a comedic look at how one man’s desire to have a happy life leads to more awkward encounters than he bargains for. Hiroshi Watanabe stars as Jimmy, a 40-year-old who is going through a midlife crisis of sorts.
Jimmy has moved in with his sister and her husband, and is sharing a bunk bed with his 10-year-old nephew. He thinks that if he gets married, all of his problems will be solved – but falling in love (and who he loves) seems to be Jimmy’s biggest problem.
Although many of the cast members are largely unknown character actors, there are a couple of faces that should be familiar like James Kyson Lee (Heroes) and veteran Pepe Serna (he played Angel in Scarface). Â White on Rice has been getting some pretty good reviews from screenings, and even the brief trailer is pretty entertaining!
